 Anxiety is a feeling which can either help motivate you or make you doubt yourself. Feeling anxious is normal and everyone feels anxious sometimes. However, for some people, anxiety can be overwhelming and have a huge impact on everyday life.

Anxiety presents differently in different people but there are some signs to look out for: 

  • Faster heartbeat.
  • Stomach aches.
  • Headaches.
  • Feeling dizzy.
  • Having cold or hot sweats.
  • Talking faster than usual.
  • Wanting to avoid particular situations/people.

How Can I Manage My Anxiety?

If feelings of anxiety are taking over your life, there are some things you can try. These strategies may or may not work for you. 

  • Listen to music. 
  • Do breathing exercises. 
  • Write a poem, song or do a drawing about how you feel. 
  • Create a set of coping cards – little flashcards with reminders of what to do in certain situations. 
  • Use a worry bag – fill up the bag with your worries and lock them away. 
  • Grounding exercises.
